On a recent trip to Africa, Caulene Bussard, Marilyn’s sister and world missionary stumbled upon a struggling ministry to the many orphaned children in Nairobi Kenya called “The Children’s Garden”, founded by Moses Ndung’u (Daddy Moses). Without outside help many of these children would not survive. Caulene felt compelled to help and began a project with Slovack children and their families in Bratislavia to raise funds so these needy children could have their basic needs taken care of and at the same time receive an education. As more funds were raised, more children arrived, creating an even greater need. As of today there are far more needy children than funds to provide them even basic needs. Marilyn often wished she could do more to help and now she can – Through You! Please give generously to this worthy project

Tired but not sleepy

It has been a very long day.  Not just for myself but also for my family.  My sister, Shirley and her husband Gary, have kindly consented to fly in from their home in New York and spend the next week here with me. Shirley is a retired nurse and will be spending some much appreciated quality time with Marilyn during the next week.

After this past week of another normal but highly hectic school startup activities, I am ready for a break.  My day today began at 6 AM after only 3 very short hours of sleep. Somehow a shot of adrenaline kicked in as I met my first class and before I knew it the day was gone along with my students.  Friday is meeting day - something I never look forward to and today was no different but somehow I managed to make it thorough, staying late again to prepare for the first real week of learning.

My step mother also came in from Creston for a visit as she was passing through on her way to the Maritimes for a much anticipated Fall vacation.  Along with immediate family, several others also dropped in for a visit today.  Marilyn's cousin Don and his wife Doloris as well as a very dear friend who had just heard of Marilyn's latest hospital confinement.

I arrived up at the hospital room fairly late to find Marilyn in her usual sedated state appearing quite unaware of the many visitors who had passed by her bedside during the day.  Knowing that she hardly knew whether or not I was coming or going I decided to chat with the nurses and her doctor and, after a few reassuring words with Marilyn, left to spend a few hours with Lyn before she began her Maritime holiday.

It was after 1 Am when I finally arrived home from the airport with my sister and her husband. The three of us hardly said a word as we headed off to the comfort of our beds, hoping that a  much needed rest would find us refreshed in the morning.  Not so for me though, as my mind just didn't want to sleep and won't shut off.  So here I am typing away with my eyes closed praying that I will soon be able to drift off and wondering when Marilyn will regain control of her mind.

The new doctor who has now taken on Marilyn's care  will be changing her medicines from a very potent form of morphine to methadone tomorrow as well as beginning to taper off her intake of steroids.  Both he and I concur that the very high doses of narcotics have been the main cause of all her delirium but as a precaution he has also ordered another CT scan of her brain.   Please pray that nothing will be found to be abnormal there.

I can now feel the sleep finally prying at my brain so must take advantage of the moment.  I will forego proofreading and hope that my typing skills are good enough for others to decipher what I have written.

Good night (or should I say good morning) at any rate whatever it is I hope sleep will finally take over and give me some rest.

Bryon
