On a recent trip to Africa, Caulene Bussard, Marilyn’s sister and world missionary stumbled upon a struggling ministry to the many orphaned children in Nairobi Kenya called “The Children’s Garden”, founded by Moses Ndung’u (Daddy Moses). Without outside help many of these children would not survive. Caulene felt compelled to help and began a project with Slovack children and their families in Bratislavia to raise funds so these needy children could have their basic needs taken care of and at the same time receive an education. As more funds were raised, more children arrived, creating an even greater need. As of today there are far more needy children than funds to provide them even basic needs. Marilyn often wished she could do more to help and now she can – Through You! Please give generously to this worthy project

Home Again Home Again Jiggedy Jig!!

July 11

Once again Marilyn has pushed hard through her pain to do her exercises. Over the last week she has accomplished climbing and descending stairs with the aid of a cane and handrail. She also graduated to riding in the front seat of out van so I now can take her for a short ride. On Sunday we tested out her endurance again by planning a party at our home. I told Marilyn the party was a surprise going away/birthday for my stepmother (Lyn) who has been such a help to both of us for the last few weeks. Lyn was told that the party was a celebration for what Marilyn had accomplished. It was rather amusing to watch the two of them plan away for their own party.

In the end the celebration was a grand success. Despite a bout of the flu seeming to attack her, Marilyn endured well. She was able to climb into our van without much difficulty, ride home, climb the steps into the house under her own power, sit and visit with the 20 or so guests and then reverse the whole process 3 hours later to go back to the hospital.

Lyn also enjoyed the surprise with gifts, cards and of course, a cake. On Monday she boarded a plane headed for another family celebration in Victoria and 90th birthday party for her sister Marg. We will miss her support and help greatly but also wish her a relaxing and much-earned time for a holiday and rest.

Today I am just sitting with Marilyn as she rests and recuperates from a rather nasty bout of flu. Hopefully this afternoon we will be able to resume walking and perhaps a short ride in the sunshine. The next step remains in the hands of the doctors as they determine when it will be appropriate for her to move ahead with treatment for the cancer.

Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers.

Bryon
